Karin Muraro

Karin Muraro is a lawyer with over 25 years of experience in the field of intellectual property, focusing on trademarks, patents, and the protection of innovation. She is part of the litigation department of Modiano & Partners in Milan, where she assists national and international clients in the strategic management and protection of their IP rights.

Her work covers all main areas of intellectual property—both contentious and non-contentious—with particular focus on trademarks, designs, copyright, patents, trade secrets, geographical indications, unfair competition, and arbitration. Throughout her career, she has handled complex cases, often with cross-border and pan-European implications, representing clients before national courts, European courts, and the Court of Justice of the European Union.

She is also specialized in commercial contracts related to the exploitation of IP rights, particularly license agreements, distribution, franchising, coexistence, confidentiality, and transactions. She also handles due diligence and analysis and management of trademark portfolios for international companies.

In the area of trademarks and designs, she manages prior art searches, opinions on validity and infringement, filing and prosecution of trademarks and designs at national and international levels, including oppositions, invalidity actions, and domain name reassignments. She is registered and authorized to practice before the Unified Patent Court.

Before joining Modiano & Partners, she worked in several international law firms, consolidating expertise in patent, trademark, and design law, copyright, European competition law, corporate law, and Internet law. She also teaches IP Law at Ferrari Fashion School, providing students with a practical, international approach focused on brand protection in the fashion sector.
