Alessandro Pierattini is a lecturer and consultant specialized in textile science, materials technology, and sustainability applied to the fashion and design sector. Alongside his professional practice in fashion and interior design, he has developed an academic career, focusing on research and the development of textile collections and accessories.
Always sensitive to environmental issues, he has directed his work toward the experimentation of innovative solutions for material recycling and reducing the environmental impact of the textile industry. Since 2000, he has been teaching Textile Science and Materials Technology at the University of Florence and at various international universities, mentoring students in undergraduate, graduate, and master programs.
Throughout his career, he has provided consultancy for numerous textile and fashion companies, supporting processes of innovation in design, printing techniques, and finishing treatments. Collaboration with the Prato Textile Museum has been a key milestone in his career, allowing him to participate in important European projects.
He has advanced skills in textile printing, dyeing, and finishing, as well as a solid background in graphic and textile design. He also teaches advanced courses in fashion business, textile design, and sustainability, integrating traditional and digital design processes using tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. He is the author of several publications dedicated to sustainable fashion, including Handbook for Sustainable Fabrics (2023) and Developing a Sustainable Wardrobe (2024).
