Alessandra Galasso

Alessandra Galasso is a historian of visual culture, costume, and fashion, curator, writer, and editor. She lives and works in Milan, where she combines research and curatorial work with an active teaching practice. She earned a master’s degree in Political Science and in Historical Studies at the University of Milan and a master’s in curatorial studies at the École du Magasin in Grenoble, France.

Throughout her career, she has held prominent positions in major international institutions: she was Exhibition Coordinator and Associate Curator at P.S.1 – The Institute for Contemporary Art (now MoMA/PS1) in New York, Senior Curator at Magasin – Centre National d’Art Contemporain in Grenoble, and Associate Curator at the Museo del Novecento in Milan.

She is a lecturer in Art Aesthetics at Ferrari Fashion School and teaches cultural anthropology, art and style semiotics, and art and costume history in undergraduate and specialized courses in Fashion Design at NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan. She has also taught English for Cultural Heritage at AFOL Moda, as part of the Master’s program in Costume for Theatre and Performance.

A member of ICOM – the International Council of Museums, she has curated and coordinated over fifty exhibitions and collaborated as an author with numerous art magazines, monographs, and exhibition catalogs, contributing to the contemporary discourse on visual culture, art, and fashion.
