Born in Bergamo in 1993, Maria Piattica graduated in Fashion Design from the Politecnico di Milano and later in Visual Arts and Fashion at IUAV University of Venice. Her professional experience is mainly focused on knitwear, starting as a product assistant for the historic brand Agnona.
Since 2020, she has pursued an academic career as a teaching assistant at Politecnico di Milano, supporting undergraduate students in activities such as technical and figurative drawing, visual research, moodboards, textile manipulation, and fashion collection design. Through collaboration with local knitwear factories, she has deepened her knowledge of Shima Seiki machine programming and linking, strengthening her dialogue with the production chain.
She is currently knitwear laboratory technician at NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan, where she assists lecturers and supports students in knit garment development, using hand knitting, crochet, and manual machines. She also collaborates with Ferrari Fashion School, where she teaches in the Creative Lab – Textile module, guiding students in material reinterpretation and textile manipulation, starting from yarn creation.
Alongside her academic activity, Maria is a consultant for textile companies and independent brands, providing technical, design, and educational support in the development of special knitwear projects. Through the educational projects KNITWEAR FOR EVERYONE and HOUSEMADE, she promotes courses and workshops open to all ages, highlighting handcrafted work.
Her vision is based on the belief that manual skills are a source of culture, representing a bridge between tradition and contemporaneity, a creative heritage to preserve and renew over time.
