Ferrari Fashion School x Bonaveri: Luxury Mannequins and Exhibition Design in Fashion Storytelling

What transforms a fashion presentation into a memorable experience?

Beyond the garments themselves, exhibition design, visual merchandising and spatial storytelling shape how audiences perceive creativity.

Now in its third consecutive year, Ferrari Fashion School’s collaboration with Bonaveri, the international leader in luxury mannequins for fashion, retail and cultural institutions, brought this dimension of the industry into 026 MEMBRANE, the School’s annual Fashion Show and Showcase at Spazio Filippetti during Milano Fashion Week Men’s.

Working alongside one of the world’s leading names in luxury visual presentation, students explored how display, space and visual composition influence the way fashion is communicated, experienced and remembered.

Learning Visual Merchandising Through Industry

The collaboration became an integral part of Ferrari Fashion School’s educational approach. While Fashion Design students developed their collections, students from the undergraduate course in Fashion Styling and Communication programme, where Visual Merchandising forms part of the curriculum, were responsible for the exhibition design and installation of the MEMBRANE Showcase.

From selecting the display layout to arranging garments on Bonaveri’s luxury mannequins, they translated the creative concept into a spatial experience, discovering how exhibition design supports and strengthens fashion communication.

By collaborating with Bonaveri, students experienced professional methodologies used by luxury brands, fashion exhibitions and premium retail environments.

Bonaveri: The Global Benchmark for Luxury Mannequins

Since 1953, Bonaveri has been recognised internationally as the benchmark for luxury mannequins, collaborating with leading fashion houses, flagship stores, museums and cultural institutions worldwide, being the historical partner of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) of New York. Its combination of Italian craftsmanship, technological innovation and sustainable research has transformed the mannequin into a powerful communication tool rather than a simple display element.

At the 026 MEMBRANE Fashion Showcase, Bonaveri’s mannequins became part of the exhibition narrative, reinforcing the dialogue between body, silhouette, materials and space while enhancing the visual identity of each collection.

Fashion Communication Beyond the Runway

Today’s luxury fashion industry demands professionals capable of designing complete brand experiences. Fashion shows, exhibitions and retail spaces have become strategic platforms where visual merchandising, set design and storytelling are as important as the garments themselves.

Through collaborations with industry leaders such as Bonaveri, Ferrari Fashion School prepares students to work across design, styling and communication, developing the multidisciplinary skills increasingly required by luxury brands.

By integrating industry partnerships directly into the curriculum, students gain first-hand experience of how fashion is presented, interpreted and communicated—preparing them to shape the future of luxury fashion beyond the runway.
