Andrea Olivo

Andrea Olivo is a Milan-based photographer and director with a strong and recognisable presence in fashion photography. Born and bred in Durban, South Africa, he relocated to Milan in 2003, bringing with him an international perspective shaped by a culture far removed from the European fashion mainstream.

He began his career assisting photographers across the global fashion circuit, learning the industry from the ground up before launching out on his own. His work quickly caught the attention of Aura Photo Agency, one of Milan’s leading agencies, which signed him to its roster — the starting point of a career that has steadily grown in scope and ambition.

Andrea’s photography is defined by a balance of technical confidence and personality. His images are elegant but never stiff, drawing on a wide range of cinematic, literary, and cultural references while always keeping a sense of humour and lightness. He describes his approach as “tongue-in-cheek, never taking fashion too seriously but always trying to create an image that resonates with who is seeing it” — and that spirit comes through whether he’s shooting a major campaign or an intimate editorial.

Over the years his work has appeared in Vanity Fair, GQ, Elle, Glamour, Highsnobiety, Cosmopolitan, Grazia, and Gioia, and he has shot campaigns for brands including Versace Jeans Couture, Fendi, Max Mara, Diesel, Jeremy Scott, Sportmax, Campari, Aperol, BMW, and Porsche. Recent projects include the global Onitsuka Tiger Spring/Summer 2026 campaign and editorials for Numero Russia and Spaghetti Magazine.

Alongside his photography, Andrea has expanded into directing, working across both stills and moving image. He is represented worldwide by Aura Photo Agency.
