Ferrari Fashion Schoolis committed to building valuable collaborations with top-tier companies in the textile industry, offering students the opportunity to work on real-world projects that put their skills into practice and best prepare them for the professional world. Through partnerships with innovative companies, we promote initiatives that allow students to engage with high-quality materials, learn about new technologies, and understand the importance of sustainability in fashion design.
These projects represent a valuable opportunity for young designers to express their creativity and test their abilities through real-world briefs, thanks to the support of qualified partners.
The “Urban and Biotic” Academic Project
In this spirit, the academic project “Urban and Biotic” was born in collaboration with Manteco, a leading company in the textile sector. This project will involve the second-year class of the BA in Fashion Design, who will have the opportunity to develop and create a complete outfit inspired by the FW26 menswear collection. The students will go through the entire creative process, working on concepts and designs that reflect both their own vision and Manteco’s values.
Who is Manteco?
Manteco is a Tuscan company specialized in the production of carded wool fabrics, both regenerated and virgin, with a history dating back to 1941, when Enzo Anacleto founded the company. Characterized by a strong connection to tradition and a deep commitment to sustainability, Manteco is guided by a philosophy of circular economy and a scientific approach to material innovation.
The Project in Collaboration with Manteco
“Urban and Biotic”, launched in collaboration with Manteco, invites students to explore the relationship between modern humans and the environment through the use of wool as the central material. Wool, a symbol of versatility and sustainability, represents a meeting point between the artificial world and the human need for authenticity and well-being.
Students are asked to reflect on the contrast between contemporary urban life and the desire to reconnect with nature, demonstrating how wool—with its thermoregulating properties and ability to adapt to both urban and natural contexts—can meet the needs of modern life.
The project encourages students to explore the varied textures and characteristics of wool—from smooth and lightweight surfaces to coarse and voluminous ones—to create garments that combine functionality, innovation, and a unique sensory experience. Through this experimentation, designers are encouraged to develop solutions that merge technology and craftsmanship, redefining urban clothing with an eco-conscious and thoughtful approach.
Project Details
The second-year class of the BA in Fashion Design is tasked with developing and producing a complete outfit for the FW26 menswear collection, to be presented to Manteco. The collection aims to position the garments in the upper-mid to high-end market segment and to explore an aesthetic that moves between urban and formal. The main material will be wool, used in various weights and combinations to bring to life creative solutions based on an extensive study of volumes, textile manipulations, and a carefully selected color palette.
