Haute couture meets the world of magic with the Winx: the trendiest fairies in the universe, flagship characters of Rainbow and Made in Italy, made their debut at Milan Fashion Week 2022 thanks to a collaboration with Ferrari Fashion School, celebrating the 18th anniversary of Winx Club.
On September 23, during the most glamorous week of the year, six haute couture dresses inspired by each fairy were presented for the first time to a select audience at the prestigious academy located in the heart of Milan’s new Fashion District.
Through this ambitious project, the global phenomenon Winx Club—now a pop culture icon beloved by generations—became a source of inspiration for emerging voices in fashion. The students of Ferrari Fashion School demonstrated remarkable professionalism and skill, analyzing in detail the personalities, styles, and defining traits of each of the six heroines to create true haute couture pieces, characterized by meticulous material selection and attention to detail, fully immersing the audience in the Winx Club universe.
The winning students distinguished themselves in the course by capturing the soul and personality of the Winx and translating them into truly magical outfits. Vittorio Alessi and Miriam Pellegrin designed the outfits for Tecna, Musa, and Bloom. Valentina Lacatena, Marika Caramia, and Rosalba Andolfi created the style of Aisha, while Stella and Flora were designed by Giada dei Giudici.
The project benefited from the special collaboration of two Italian fashion industry sponsors: Feleppa, founded by two young twin designers and rapidly established in the fashion industry, handled the development and creation of the six winning designs; the prestigious Piedmontese company Montorfano carried out the meticulous research and production of the garments’ luxurious fabrics. Special thanks also go to Tessitura Attilio Imperiali and Tessitura Serica A.M. Taborelli for their support in the fabric research phase.
Over the past 18 years, the fairies created by the visionary Iginio Straffi have grown alongside their fans, who continue to follow their childhood heroines across social media platforms. The Winx have become an evergreen global phenomenon, addressing timely themes and reflecting the dreams and needs of their audience, embracing values such as diversity and inclusivity, and transcending cultural boundaries. Friendship, courage, commitment, generosity, and positivity: this explosive and essential mix has been at the heart of the magical heroines created by Rainbow since Winx Club first entered Italian homes on January 28, 2004.
Since then, the Winx have reinvented themselves and kept pace with the times, often anticipating them: from Iginio Straffi’s original hand-drawn sketches to high-quality 3D animation at Rainbow CGI studios, Bloom, Stella, Flora, Aisha, Musa, and Tecna are now brought to life in person through the Netflix original live-action series Fate: The Winx Saga, produced in collaboration with Rainbow. This ambitious challenge, successfully accomplished, led to the launch of a second season available on Netflix from September 16, demonstrating the global potential of the Winx brand, a proud example of Italian creativity worldwide.
