The professional career of Luciano Bandi began immediately after his degree in Political Science with an economic major, obtained in 1978, in the marketing department of Filatura di Grignasco, where he held the role of product manager. This was a highly significant formative experience, as the company—the largest and most important spinning mill in Europe—was considered at the forefront of managerial training.
In 1983, a new challenge presented itself at Loro Piana. At the time, the company was known exclusively by clothing manufacturers, as it did not yet have products destined for the final consumer. However, its cashmere and fine wool fabrics were already recognized as unique for their quality level. The Loro Piana brothers, leveraging the synergies related to their deep knowledge of raw materials and the use of production plants, decided to create a Division dedicated to the promotion of knitting yarns, particularly cashmere, and sought an experienced figure on the market to build this new business area.
He faced both technical and commercial challenges, adapting the production structure to the new requirements related to knitting yarns. This experience lasted over thirty years, allowing him to gain a profound understanding of the global luxury market and acquire a vast wealth of expertise by working closely with the Loro Piana brothers.
After leaving Loro Piana, he concluded his professional career at Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia, holding the role of sales director and member of the Board of Directors.
Throughout his years at these companies, he had the opportunity to participate in roundtables on the main themes of the textile sector and to hold courses at Italian and foreign universities, with the aim of passing on his experience and, above all, his passion for the world of fabrics to new generations.
