Atelier Astier de Villatte: Parisian craftsmanship for students in the Master's in Fashion and Luxury Management

Contemporary Parisian Craftsmanship for Master’s Students in Fashion and Luxury Management

As part of their curricular study trip to Paris, the students of the Master of Arts in Fashion and Luxury Management had the opportunity to visit one of the most iconic places in the French capital: the atelier of Astier de Villatte, a distinguished brand renowned for its refined artisanal ceramics, evocative olfactory universe, and unique aesthetic vision within the landscape of contemporary luxury.

Astier de Villatte: The Luxury of Artisanal Imperfection

Founded in Paris in 1996, Astier de Villatte is an independent maison that has made artistic craftsmanship its hallmark. Within its historic atelier, several creative worlds coexist in harmony:

  • A ceramics workshop, where each piece is hand-shaped in terracotta and coated in white glaze using 19th-century techniques;

  • A traditional letterpress print shop, the only one of its kind remaining in Paris;

  • An olfactory workshop, where perfumes, candles, and incense inspired by both real and imaginary places come to life;

  • A showroom, where every detail tells the poetic story of the brand.

This experience allowed students to grasp the importance of values such as authenticity, narrative coherence, and time in building a niche brand within the fashion and luxury lifestyle sector.

A Dialogue with the Brand

Introducing and accompanying the visit was Riccardo Giorgetti, Sales Manager for APAC and Italy at Astier de Villatte, who provided insights into the brand’s international expansion strategies, with a particular focus on Asian markets. His contribution offered a valuable complement to the visit, but the true highlight was the creative universe of the atelier itself.

Culture, Aesthetics, and Strategy in a Single Experience

This visit represented one of the most significant moments of the study trip to Paris, designed to immerse students in direct experiences with excellence in the luxury sector. Stepping into the Astier de Villatte atelier meant discovering a virtuous model of artisanal enterprise that seamlessly blends heritage and innovation, product and storytelling, creativity and business.
