On 16 and 17 November 2026, Ferrari Fashion School will join Milan Music Week alongside Kayros Music to explore the relationship between fashion, music and cultural identity. Two events dedicated to rebellion as a creative language, from punk and urban subcultures to the voices of new generations.
Fashion and Music: When Style Becomes an Expression of Identity
Fashion does more than reflect trends. It often emerges from the need to assert an identity, challenge conventions and establish new codes of belonging.
From punk in the 1970s and 1980s, which turned ripped clothing, safety pins and studs into political statements, to 1990s grunge, with its deliberate rejection of glamour; from queer cultures, which challenged gender conventions through the body and clothing, to clubbing culture, where electronic music, performance and visual experimentation gave rise to a distinctive aesthetic.
Different movements, united by one principle: fashion as a language of self-determination, long before it becomes a commercial phenomenon.
This is the perspective Ferrari Fashion School will bring to the events organised by Kayros Music, a record label established within the educational community founded by Don Claudio Burgio, as part of Milan Music Week 2026.
Ferrari Fashion School and Kayros Music: Two Events at Milan Music Week
The initiative, titled Anche il punk ha avuto il suo Kayros (Even Punk Had Its Kayros), will take place on 16 and 17 November 2026 at 21 House of Stories Città Studi in Milan, Italy, bringing together artists, music industry professionals and representatives from the education sector.
Ferrari Fashion School will contribute to the discussion through two perspectives:
- 16 November – Anna Lottersberger, Director of Ferrari Fashion School, will examine how musical subcultures have shaped the visual languages of contemporary fashion, from punk and grunge to queer cultures and the clubbing scene.
- 17 November – Riccardo Carrapa, Lecturer and Course Leader in Fashion Styling and Photography, will explore the connections between music, imagery and the construction of visual identity, with a particular focus on styling as a form of cultural expression.
Other speakers on 16 November will include Alessio Vaccarini, rapper Vegas Jones and his manager Ruggero Russo, while Michele “Wad” Caporosso and Giaime will join the discussion on 17 November.
Both evenings will also feature Don Claudio Burgio, founder of the Kayros ETS community, Ivan Storti from Universal Music Italy and journalist Gabriella Simoni. The discussions will be moderated by Daniel Zaccaro, an educator and former resident of the Kayros community.
At the heart of the conversation lies the tension between authenticity and the cultural industries: what happens when a language born on the margins is recognised, amplified and ultimately absorbed by the mainstream market?
A question that runs through the history of both music and fashion, and one that continues to challenge new generations of creatives.
