Course Features

The Master in Fashion Styling and Art Direction is an advanced programme designed to provide comprehensive training for those wishing to specialise in styling, creative direction, and visual communication, enhanced by the cultural and professional network of Milan. The programme stands out for its strong project-based and hands-on approach: students take part in 7 photo shoots and 1 fashion film, working on real sets and gaining direct experience of industry dynamics, in synergy with students from the Master in Fashion Photography and Film.

Learning Objectives

The programme is focused on building a professional portfolio aligned with the highest standards of the fashion industry. In particular, it enables students to:

  • Develop creative concepts, translating briefs and trends into coherent and original visual narratives
  • Manage the entire shooting process, from pre-production and on-set direction to post-production
  • Develop both editorial and commercial vision, working across different formats: menswear and womenswear, editorial and advertising
  • Interact with key professionals in the creative supply chain (photographers, hair & make-up artists, models), understanding roles and workflows
  • Analyse and interpret contemporary trends and visual languages, with the ability to position work within different market codes
  • Build a professional portfolio structured according to the standards required by agencies, brands, and fashion publications

The Master works in close synergy with the Fashion Photography and Fashion Film programme, simulating real production environments: students collaborate on shared sets, developing complete projects where photography, styling, and creative direction integrate into a unified visual outcome.

Study Plan

The Master in Fashion Styling and Art Direction is designed to train well-rounded professionals capable of combining visual culture, creative design, and operational skills.

The programme alternates theoretical modules – such as Fashion Authors Analysis, Fashion System, Fashion Culture, and Trend and Visual Analysis – with project-based modules, including Styling and Creative Direction, Graphic for Fashion, and Visual Communication Design, aimed at developing a coherent and professional visual language.

The practical component is central: project work includes 7 professional photo shoots and 1 Fashion Film project, through which students work on real sets, engaging with all production phases, from concept development to final execution.

The programme is further enriched by External Visits and Guest Talks, connecting academic training with the professional industry and offering direct insight into the fashion sector.
