MEMBRANE: Ferrari Fashion School presents 12 emerging designers at Fashion Graduate Italia 2026

Ferrari Fashion School returns to the runway at Fashion Graduate Italia 2026 at BASE Milano with MEMBRANE, a graduate fashion show presenting 12 collections by emerging designers from the undergraduate course in Fashion Design, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Fashion Design e Master of Art in Fashion Design and Creative Direction in Milan. The projects explore the concept of the membrane through identity, body, nature, memory, belonging and transformation.

Where do our bodies end and the world around us begin? And what happens when that boundary becomes permeable?

These questions are at the heart of MEMBRANE, the new Ferrari Fashion School fashion show, taking place on Thursday, 29 October 2026 at 11:30 AM at BASE Milano, as part of Fashion Graduate Italia 2026.

In biology, a membrane defines and protects while simultaneously enabling exchange. Translated into fashion, it becomes a field of experimentation around the relationship between body and environment, individual and society, belonging and transformation.

The 12 emerging designers featured in the show approach this shared theme from radically different perspectives: from the memory of one’s origins to the construction of identity, from the relationship between humans and nature to gender conventions and the idea of skin as both a physical and psychological surface.

Eleonora Arrivabene – Mutazione

Fashion Design, Italy

In Mutazione, the membrane becomes a space of interaction between the body and its environment. Organic matter envelops the figure, altering its volumes and accompanying a continuous process of transformation. The body is not a fixed form, but a presence capable of adapting and evolving, constantly redefining its relationship with the space around it.

Sabrina Calò – Osmotica

Fashion Design, Italy

Inspired by osmosis, Osmotica interprets the membrane as a permeable boundary through which body and nature exchange matter, energy and form. Deconstructed silhouettes, organic and asymmetric volumes, tactile textures and three-dimensional details evoke erosion, sedimentation and layering. The boundary between human and natural progressively dissolves, giving way to a process of mutual contamination.

Elena Giacomelli – Filtro

Fashion Design, Italy

Filtro begins with the impossibility of ever fully grasping the essence of an individual. In our relationship with the outside world, we inevitably create a barrier: a membrane that protects our most intimate dimension while filtering and adapting it to its surroundings. The collection explores this distance between who we are and what we allow others to see.

Elena Ndreu – Memento Ludi

MA Fashion Design and Creative Direction, Italy

Memento Ludi, from the Latin for “remember to play”, brings a playful attitude into dialogue with a symbolic language inspired by esoteric and alchemical worlds. Drawing also on Leonora Carrington’s Domestic Alchemy, the collection transforms felt, denim and Gobelin into sculptural forms. Contemporary silhouettes and complex tailoring become physical and emotional archives, preserving the maker’s gesture, the memory of materials and the evolving history of the wearer.

Ottilia Paesani – Memoria e sa Terra

BA (Hons) Fashion Design, Italy

Sardinia is the starting point for Memoria e sa Terra, yet the island is never represented literally. Instead, it emerges through sensations, materials, light and fragments of memory. The membrane becomes a metaphor for the island itself: a surface that both separates and connects, much like the sea. Layering, transparency and controlled volumes reinterpret elements of traditional Sardinian dress, transforming clothing into a space suspended between belonging, distance and memory.

Dumitrita Prepelita – Moi-Peau

BA (Hons) Fashion Design, Italy

Moi-Peau draws on French psychoanalyst Didier Anzieu’s theory of the “Skin-Ego”, in which the skin is understood as a psychic envelope that contributes to the construction of the self and mediates our relationship with the external world. Protection, rupture, vulnerability and repair become different states of the membrane. Utilitarian silhouettes and amplified volumes interact with transparency and body-contouring pieces, translating the tension between protection and exposure into clothing.

Isabela Roa Salazar – Decadent Rebellion

MA Fashion Design and Creative Direction, Colombia

Decadent Rebellion reinterprets the legacy of Policarpa Salavarrieta, known as “La Pola”, a figure of resistance during Colombia’s struggle for independence, transforming fashion and clothing into forms of political expression. Her historical role as both spy and seamstress is revisited through the collision of colonial romantic aesthetics and elements of grunge subculture. Historical femininity meets contemporary rebellion, positioning clothing as a space for emancipation, identity and resistance.

Ilenia Rossi Varettini – Identity Fatigue

Fashion Design, Italy

How much of our identity truly belongs to us? Identity Fatigue approaches the self as a mosaic constructed from encounters, cultural legacies, images and projections of who we would like to become. In a society that increasingly demands defined and recognisable identities, the collection explores the exhaustion produced by this continuous process of self-construction. The membrane becomes a symbolic, permeable skin: absorbing influences, gazes and representations while allowing identity to change form without ever becoming definitive.

Michalina Sztuka – Between Skins

BA (Hons) Fashion Design, Poland

Between Skins explores the bond between human and horse through the idea of an invisible, living membrane: a space where skin, breath and movement meet. Trust and communication are expressed through contact, tension and rhythm. Fluid forms and protective surfaces translate this shared sensitivity into a second skin, blurring the boundary between human and animal.

Aiana Tolobaeva – CASA

Fashion Design, San Marino

“Membrane, to me, is home.” This statement is the starting point for CASA, which interprets home not as a geographical location but as an inner condition. The collection connects the designer’s identity of origin with her present life in Milan. White denim becomes a surface for memory and tension, marked by textile manipulations and black traces resembling scars. Between belonging and absence, the body becomes a narrative space and the garment a place to inhabit.

Lara Vallone – Conservazione

Fashion Design, Italy

Conservazione reflects on the passage of time and the possibility of preserving what remains hidden beneath the surface. The membrane appears marked, layered and eroded: the exterior bears the traces of change while protecting an intact core. The garment becomes a veil between visible and invisible, transformation and permanence.

Tosca Wiedmann – Trapped

BA (Hons) Fashion Design, Germany

Trapped is a genderless Fall/Winter 2026–27 collection that interprets the second skin as a form of restraint, exploring the limitations that gender conventions can impose on individual expression. Wide, covering silhouettes, often derived from traditionally masculine codes, challenge predetermined categories. The collection brings an internal tension to the surface of clothing, using fashion as a means of expressing identities that resist rigid definitions.

MEMBRANE: 12 perspectives on a changing boundary

Although rooted in deeply personal research, the 12 fashion collections presented in MEMBRANE share one central question: where do we end and where does everything around us begin?

A membrane can be skin, home, landscape, memory, protection or restraint. It can preserve or allow passage. It can separate two realities or become the very point where they meet.

At Ferrari Fashion School, MEMBRANE turns fashion design into a tool for investigating the contemporary body and its relationship with identity, nature, culture and memory.

The 12 designers will present their collections on the runway at Fashion Graduate Italia 2026, bringing together different backgrounds and perspectives within a shared exploration of what it means to design the boundary between the body and the world.
