With the academic project White Project 24/25, students embark on a research journey that spans concept development, experimentation, and garment development, focusing on process, construction, and design identity. This formative experience connects creative vision with method, fostering a direct dialogue with the professional dimension of fashion design.
White Project 24/25

White Project 24/25 is the academic project developed in collaboration with Berto, which explores the expressive potential of denim through an essential and material approach.

Essential Denim: Form, Volume, and Material
The project involves the first-year BA in Fashion Design class in creating a garment inspired by the SS26 women’s collection, combining material experimentation, sustainability, and the quality of the Italian textile supply chain.
The approach stems from a deliberate choice: working exclusively with natural tones such as white and ecru. Stripped of denim’s iconic color, the fabric becomes the focus of the research, encouraging students to concentrate on structure, volumes, textures, and manipulations. Every detail becomes an opportunity for experimentation, from contrasts between lightness and thickness to plays of light on surfaces, redefining the aesthetic of denim in a contemporary key.
A complete creative journey
Students follow the entire creative process, from material selection to concept development, from studying volumes and textile manipulations to the final garment construction.
The fabrics used come from a selection provided by Berto, including lightweight 100% cotton denim, laminated fabrics, and other variants, many of which are recovered from warehouse surplus or leftover materials. This choice places sustainability at the heart of the project, raising students’ awareness of responsible design and highlighting the excellence of Made in Italy textiles.
The final creation is presented directly to Berto, giving students real interaction with the company and hands-on experience in the fashion industry, consolidating design and technical skills from the very first year.
Tradition and contemporary vision
Founded in 1887 in Bovolenta (Padua), Berto represents an excellence in Italian denim production, where craftsmanship and innovation meet in every fabric. Within the White Project AA 24/25, denim becomes a tool for experimentation and learning, connecting manufacturing tradition with contemporary research in terms of aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability.
The project thus reflects a training path focused on material, creativity, and vision, offering students the opportunity to engage with the real-world fashion industry and the quality of the Made in Italy supply chain.
