Ferrari Fashion School presents “Urbano e Biotico”, a project born from the desire to strengthen the dialogue between education and the textile industry, offering students the opportunity to work on a real brief using high-quality materials.
Urbano e Biotico
<p>“Urbano e Biotico” is the academic project born from the collaboration between Ferrari Fashion School and Manteco: a dialogue between textile innovation, sustainability, and a contemporary vision.</p>
Between urban and natural: wool as an idenitity element
“Urbano e Biotico” explores the relationship between contemporary humanity and the environment, starting with a primary and conscious material: wool. Both a natural and technical fiber, it becomes a tool for design research and a bridge between innovation and responsibility.
Through the analysis of weights, surfaces, volumes, and color combinations, students develop a reflection on the dialogue between the metropolitan dimension and the need for authenticity. The contrast between city and nature translates into formal choices, structured constructions, and textile experiments.
Wool thus establishes itself as a contemporary expressive code: flexible, high-performance, suitable for urban and formal contexts, capable of combining aesthetics, function, and environmental awareness.
A real brief for FW26 Men’s collection
Students engage in the entire creative process: from developing the concept and exploring materials, to defining volumes and creating the tailored garments. The goal is to develop an aesthetic that balances urban and formal elements, integrating functionality, innovation, and artisanal quality.
Wool, presented in different weights and textures, is explored for its multiple expressive possibilities: compact structures, material effects, and contrasts between lightness and volume.
The study of volumes, layering, textile manipulations, and surface experimentation becomes a key tool to redefine contemporary menswear with a conscious, evolved, and up-to-date perspective.
Material e innovation
Founded in 1941 in Tuscany, Manteco is an international reference point in the production of carded, regenerated, and virgin wool. The company stands out for its scientific approach to material research and its focus on the circular economy.
The collaboration allows students to engage with an industrial excellence environment, gaining direct understanding of the importance of textile quality, sustainability, and strategic positioning within the fashion system.
“Urbano e Biotico” is a project that translates experiential learning into concrete practice. It strengthens design, technical, and strategic skills, simulating the real dynamics of the fashion industry.
A story of materials, research, and contemporary vision, it highlights the importance of school-industry collaboration in developing conscious professionals capable of combining creativity, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
