During Milan Fashion Week, Ferrari Fashion School, in collaboration with Terre des Hommes, presented a collection of garments that transcend traditional fashion and become symbols of rebirth for women and girls who have experienced abuse.
Born from an idea by the creative agency ACNE, #RestartCollection is part of InDifesa, a project by the non-profit Terre des Hommes, and falls within the broader initiative “Milan, City of Women” by the Municipality of Milan, dedicated to themes of female empowerment, and the fight against violence and gender discrimination.
The Creative Process
During the creative workshop, students from the fashion and textile design programs transformed torn and damaged garments—metaphors for episodes of violence—into unique pieces that tell stories of renewal and healing, using a tailoring-based approach.“The garments were made […] inspired by the technique of kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken objects with gold,”
explained Anna Lottersberger, Director of Ferrari Fashion School – Plena Education Group.
“Each piece becomes a symbol of a new beginning, an icon to wear with strength and pride to send a simple but essential message: every wound can be mended, every story can begin again.”
The young fashion designers involved in the project worked with passion and dedication, guided by Giusy Liguori, Course Leader of the Fashion Design program, and instructor Eva Rondinelli, showing through their creations that every story can have a new beginning.
